当一批货物的毛重或体积装不满一辆货车时，可与其他几批甚至上百批货物共用一辆货车装运时，叫零担货物运输，也称零担物流。这里所说的零担主要指国内陆路零担物流，即零担汽车运输。包括零担专线运输和非专线运输。比如长沙到深圳专线，济南到北京专线。
相对于整车运输，零担物流具有装卸搬运频繁、易出现货损货差、运输组织较复杂、单位费用较高等特点。
